Production of Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake begins

BUDAPEST (Hungary): Mercedes-Benz has announced that its latest CLA Shooting Brake has begun to leave its Hungarian production line in Kecskemét.

The Kecskemét plant, which exclusively produces the CLA Shooting Brake and the CLA Coupé for the world market, is one of six plants located on three continents that make up the German carmaker's production network.

In einem Pilotprojekt von gut fünf Monaten wurden Ersatzteile für die Anlageninstandhaltung mit Drohnen zwischen Lager und Instandhaltungswerkstätten über die Dächer der Werkshallen transportiert. Diese zusätzliche Transportmöglichkeit steigert die Flexibilität und reduziert den Verkehr innerhalb des Werks. In a pilot project over a period of around five months, replacement parts needed for plant maintenance were carried over the rooftops - between warehouses and maintenance workshops - of the production shops by drones.

Such plants can also be found in Rastatt (Germany), Beijing (China), Uusikaupunki (Finland), Aguascalientes (Mexico) and Hambach (France).

These plants currently produce seven models which include the A-Class, B-Class, CLA, CLA Shooting Brake, GLA, A-Class Sedan and the long-wheelbase A-Class L Sedan meant for the Chinese market.

Wenige Monate nach dem CLA Coupé rollt im ungarischen Mercedes-Benz Werk Kecskemét nun auch der neue CLA Shooting Brake vom Band. Damit bringt Mercedes-Benz Cars nicht nur die beiden sportlichsten Modelle aus der neuen Kompaktwagen-Generation in bewährter Top-Qualität auf die Straße - auch in der Produktion setzt das Unternehmen Maßstäbe in Bezug auf Flexibilität, Effizienz und Nachhaltigkeit. Die internationale Anlaufkaskade der Kompaktwagen, die im April 2018 mit dem Produktionsstart der neuen A-Klasse in Rastatt begonnen hat, hat damit ein weiteres Etappenziel erreicht. Just a few months after the CLA Coupé, the new CLA Shooting Brake is starting to leave the production lines at the Hungarian Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét. This not only means that Mercedes-Benz Cars is putting the two sportiest models in the new compact car generation onto the roads in well-proven top quality - in production too, the company is setting standards with respect to flexibility, efficiency and sustainability. It means that the international ramp-up cascade for compact cars that started with the new A-Class in Rastatt in April 2018 has reached a further milestone.

Also, the Hungarian plant employs around 4,700 personnel and managed to produce more than 190,000 Mercedes-Benz compact vehicles.

Since its market launch, more than 750,000 units of the CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake have already been sold with the largest demand in 2018 coming from China, USA and Germany.
