KUALA LUMPUR: Shell Lubricants has launched the most advanced product in its Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology range.

Priced at RM338 for a 4-litre pack, the new Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 is said to provide engine wear protection of four times better than the industry standard, setting a new record for Shell Helix.

It has ECT (Emissions Compatible Technology) that helps protect the emissions systems of modern diesel and petrol engines.

It also meets the approvals of top tier equipment manufacturers, including Mercedes and Volkswagen.

Shell Lubricants general manager (Malaysia and Singapore) Leslie Ng said the new lubricant has the highest specifications for motor oils in the market.

"It is our most advanced formulation to date, and designed to deliver superior performance and protection, to help keep your engine performing at its best," said Ng.

It is also touted as giving three times better corrosion protection of engine components.

In test conditions, Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 produced 45% cleaner pistons and delivered up to 2.6% greater fuel economy.

It is formulated using PurePlus Technology, which converts natural gas into a crystal-clear base oil with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil.

Base oils make up on average 75-90% of the end product, so high-quality base stock with significantly more isoparaffins than others is a key component in top-tier engine oils.

The base oil is then enhanced with Shell’s proprietary Active Cleansing Technology to create the company’s most advanced fully synthetic motor oil ever, which delivers higher levels of protection against build-up of engine deposits and unsurpassed sludge protection.
