'Top Gear' to get an American makeover featuring William Fichtner as host

LOS ANGELES: Actor William Fichtner will join drag racer Antron Brown and car journalist Tom Ford on an upcoming, US-based version of the popular car series, it was announced on March 20.

The new series of Top Gear America will premiere in 2017 with new hosts: actor and car enthusiast (and racer) William Fichtner, champion drag racer Antron Brown and Tom "Wookie" Ford, who was previously the co-host of the Fifth Gear TV show and now writes for Top Gear Magazine.

The series will consist of eight hour-long episodes, featuring "not just the best new cars in the world, but also the cars that have defined America's past" according to the Top Gear website. Each episode, like the original British format, the show will feature a celebrity guest as well as appearances by Top Gear's team racing driver The Stig.
