PEKAN: The collaboration between DRB-Hicom University of Automotive Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Pahang will play a key role in developing the automotive industry and the national economy.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the two universities had their specific advantages and expertise, which could be used by both parties to maximise their capabilities.

"The collaboration between DRB-Hicom University and Universiti Malaysia Pahang will be most beneficial in the development of the national automotive industry.

"DRB-Hicom has been in the automotive industry for a long time and its experience can be used by Universiti Malaysia Pahang to enhance its role in the industry.

"It is projected that future cars will adopt green technologies and the collaboration between the two universities can produce such products that can compete in the international arena," he said here on Sunday.

He disclosed this after being given a briefing and making an official visit to the DRB-Hicom University of Automotive, here after it was upgraded from a college status recently.

As the only automotive university in Asean, DRB-Hicom University can attract industry workers in the region to further their studies, he added.
