PETALING JAYA: Perodua has unveiled the Traz, its latest five-seater sports utility vehicle (SUV) that caters to drivers looking for urban adventures with the family.
The Traz is available in two variants of X and H, and priced from RM76,100 and RM82,000 on-the-road without insurance respectively.

Perodua says the Traz was introduced to complement its existing SUV lineup of Aruz and Ativa.
The Traz, which has obtained an NCAP Asean five-star rating, also features a more crossover-like appearance and is said to share underpinnings with the Toyota Yaris Cross.

Headlamps are the full LED type with follow-me-home and leaving home functions, while the rear gets LED combination lights and spoiler with LED third brake light.
The Traz comes with a wheelbase of 2,620mm, length of 4,310mm, width of 1,770mm and height of 1,655mm.

Its ground clearance of 210mm promises a more confident drive over lightly flooded stretches.
Powering the Traz is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder DOHC engine delivering 78kW (105hp) and 138Nm of torque coupled to a D-CVT system.

Equipped with three drive modes of Eco, Normal, Power, the Traz has a high fuel efficiency of 21.3km per litre based on the Malaysia Driving Cycle.
Inside, standard items include push-start button, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay ready 9-inch multimedia display audio, a 4.2-inch TFT meter combination, a 12V power socket, one Type-A and one Type-C ports for the front occupants, two Type-C ports for rear passengers, and rear air-conditioner vents.

Also standard across the variants are six airbags with EBD and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), 17-inch alloy wheels, all-round disc brakes, Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Assist Brake for vehicles and pedestrians, Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control.
Also available for both X and H variants are Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Front Corner Sensors, Rear Sensors, Reverse Camera, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), solar and security film and ISOFIX child restraint system.

The H variant also gets additional items such as auto mode air-conditioner, 360-degree panoramic view monitor, hill hold system, leather steering wheel and shift knob, power tailgate with motion sensing and digital video recorder.
Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the Traz has its unique market niche.

"We expect sales to be around 1,900 units per month," he said, adding that the Traz comes with 95% local content.
The project costs RM563.3mil and Traz is produced at the Perodua Manufacturing Sdn Bhd plant in Sungai Choh, Rawang.
He also said the Traz would boost Perodua’s sales next year and that deliveries are expected to start immediately in Peninsular Malaysia.
Available colours are Cranberry Red, Electric Blue with Black Roof, Glittering Silver, Ivory White and Granite Grey.
Owners can also enhance their Traz with Perodua's GearUp accessories which includes packages for bodykit, leather seats, interior illumination and wireless smartphone charging among others.
