BEIJING: Taking all-in-one to a whole new level, China's Chery Group introduced its first transformable multi-functional family sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Parked under the brand's Tiggo series, the Tiggo V made its public debut at the Auto China 2026 exhibition in Beijing, China.
It is developed based on a "scenario-driven" concept with the ‘V’ reflecting the three key values that is versatility, value and victory.
Similarly the model is positioned to expand Chery's presence in the global multi-functional vehicle segment by offering more flexible and practical mobility solutions tailored to the evolving needs of families.

With that the model was built with the aim of multi-purpose use in mind - to combine the stability of a SUV, the comfort of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the lifestyle flexibility of a recreational vehicle, and the practicality of a pick-up truck.
That is to say it needed to integrate the functionalities of a SUV, MPV and pickup truck into a single model while delivering a well-rounded mobility solution for families
The result is a customisable vehicle that features a flexible layout, has a spacious and comfort-centric cabin, and a range of safety systems.
SUV mode remains the default, featuring Chery’s Tiger-inspired design language, with its distinctive front exterior, V-shaped grille, and LED headlights.
The body structure is made up of 76% high-strength steel and aluminium, with reinforced protection in critical areas.
It is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and includes Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), as well as Automatic Parking Assist (APA) and Remote Parking Assist (RPA).

The Tiggo V can then transition into MPV mode to provide greater space and comfort to cater to larger groups or longer journeys.
With it's 2,800mm wheelbase the mode offers a three-row, seven-seat configuration.
Second-row seats feature sliding adjustment, while flexible seat folding allows for different configurations such as ‘bed mode’ for added convenience.
Cabin is said to include 42 storage compartments to support daily usability.
Comfort features such as independent air vents for all three rows and dual-zone automatic climate control help maintain a consistent cabin environment is present.
Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a cabin air filtration system with N95-grade PM0.3 efficiency.

Its third mode is also known as the PUP or pickup mode to accommodate larger items and more demanding use cases.
A quick-detach rear structure allows for easy transformation to increase cargo capacity when needed.
The wide-opening tailgate and foldable seating makes it easier to load larger items such as luggage, equipment, or household goods.
It also supports a range of compatible accessories including roof tents and storage solutions. This allows users to adapt the vehicle for outdoor activities or practical day-to-day use.
Regardless of mode the Tiggo V has two powertrain setup. One being Chery’s sixth-generation Super Hybrid system with the other an internal combustion engine (ICE) version.
The plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) variant achieves fuel consumption as low as 6-litre/100km while the ICE records 7.84 litre/100km.
The vehicle is also equipped with a high-clearance chassis of up to 220mm ground clearance, allowing it to traverse different road conditions including uneven terrain.
Wading depth for the ICE variant is said to be 650mm while the PHEV option is 700mm.

During the model's global unveiling, Chery chief executive officer Jeff Zhang said the brand aims to prioritise real-world family mobility needs as a long-term commitment to delivering reliable quality and thoughtful technology.
No timeline has been given on when the Tiggo V would enter Malaysia. Similarly its price
As an aside, one possible foreseen complexity in bringing it in is the classification of the model type and its homologation process.
Regardless, the company says it is already working towards bringing the Tiggo V into the country.
