LONDON: BYD has passed the significant milestone of 100,000 new car registrations in the UK.
The world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (plug-in hybrid and fully electric) said this feat is particularly significant given that BYD sales only commenced with the Atto 3 in March 2023.
Since that time, the range has expanded from one model to 10, covering everything from the Dolphin Surf compact hatchback to the 530PS Sealion 7 SUV-coupé.
A range of DM-i plug-in hybrid products has expanded the range further, with the first DM model, the Seal U DM-i, followed more recently by Atto 2 DM-i, Seal 6 DM-i Saloon and Touring and Sealion 5 DM-i.
The fully electric Atto 3 Evo, a significant overhaul of the original Atto 3, has also joined the range in 2026.
In that time, BYD has gone from the launch of five retailers to a network of 143 sites across the country. Of those 100,000 units, over a third – 37,995 vehicles – were registered in the first half of 2026 alone.
BYD UK country manager Bono Ge said, “We are incredibly grateful to the 100,000 BYD owners who have placed their trust in us—and to the 100,000 families behind them who have welcomed BYD into their lives."
"We’re excited to bring even more innovative products to the UK, including the BYD Dolphin G, Shark and Ti 7, as well as the Denza models like Z, D9, BAO 5 and Z9 GT. We’re also introducing exciting new technologies, including our groundbreaking Flash Charging technology, to make electric mobility even more convenient for our customers.”
