Jaecoo 8 SHS-P debuts in UK: PHEV, 133km EV range, 1.5L turbo, 428PS/580Nm

LONDON: Jaecoo UK has confirmed the arrival of its new flagship model, the 8 SHS-P which brings three-row luxury to the Jaecoo line-up for the first time.

The Jaecoo 8 SHS-P is offered in both six- and seven-seat configurations.

The proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS) from parent company Chery International is expanding with new SHS-P designation for plug-in hybrids.

The 8 SHS-P Luxury variant offers seven seats, dual 12.3-inch displays, a Sony 14-speaker sound system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.

Meanwhile the 8 SHS-P Executive brings six-seats, Nappa leather seating and four heated, ventilated massage captain’s chairs with extendable driver’s thigh support.

Both variants are standard with the AWD SHS-P system comprising a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a three-speed DHT for a combined output of 428PS and 580Nm.

An electric-only range of up to 83 miles (133km) supports daily zero-emission driving, while DC fast-charging capability of up to 40kW allows a 30%-80% charge in 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality extends the model’s outdoor and lifestyle credentials.

For the first time on a Jaecoo model, the Jaecoo 8 features lockable differentials alongside the adaptive all-terrain response system, for enhanced capability across a wide range of driving conditions.

It includes generous passenger space, multiple ISOFIX points, massage front seats and up to 2,021 litres of boot space.

The all-wheel-drive 8 SHS-P range retains the signature waterfall grille.

The flagship SUV is equipped with 10 airbags and up to 19 advanced driver assistance systems, including Front Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

A body structure incorporating up to 85% high-strength steel provides additional peace of mind.
