Kia wins five awards at 2025 Red Dot Design


ESSEN: Kia's PV5 WKNDR Concept has won the 2025 Red Dot Design Awards' prestigious ‘Best of the Best’ award.

The vehicle is an electric adventure van that features a modular adaptable platform with off-road enhancements and onboard energy generation.

In addition, the Korean company's PV1, PV5, PV7 and EV2 concepts were each recognised as winners in the Cars and Motorcycles category.

Taking home a total of five awards, Kia executive vice-president and head of Kia Global Design Karim Habib said:

"Being recognised by one of the world’s leading design competitions is a wonderful achievement and reflects the thoughtful innovation and dedication that we invest into every model we design.

"We will endeavour to build on this momentum as we shape the future of sustainable and accessible mobility," he said.

Design on a Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV)-based electric adventure van, the PV5 WKNDR Concept was first unveiled at 2024 SEMA Showcase.

Hailed as ideal for adventures beyond the city, the PV5 WKNDR Concept features off-road enhancements and an innovative external storage system which can be configured into a mobile kitchen.

Equipped with a highly modular interior, the PV5 WKNDR Concept also has self-sufficient energy generated via integrated solar panels and a hydro turbine.

Meanwhile, the Concept PV1 is an ultra-compact PBV with a slim profile and autonomous driving capabilities that embodies Kia’s innovative approach to last-mile urban deliveries.

The PV5, already available to customers, is a mid-sized PBV built for both logistics and passenger transport, and offers a diverse range of flexible interior layouts, including a ‘Driver’s Desk’ workspace concept and customisable seating configurations.

The Concept PV7, which has the largest cargo space in Kia’s PBV lineup, offers a spacious, flat-floor interior along with a mobile office layout and advanced integrated storage solutions.

Lastly, the Concept EV2 is a compact B-segment electric SUV with a pillarless design that pairs rugged and versatile proportions with advanced EV technology.
