Mazda BT-50 pick-up: RM138K, 3.0L turbo-diesel, 188hp/450Nm


KUALA LUMPUR: Bermaz, the official distributor of Mazda, has showcased the latest BT-50 pick-up truck.

Fully-imported from Thailand, the BT-50 pick-up truck is priced on-the-road without insurance at RM138,000.

The BT-50 comes in colour choices of Concrete Gray Mica, Vermillion Latosol Mica, True Black Mica, Geode White Pearl, and Sailing Blue Mica.

It is covered by a five-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first).


The latest BT-50 pick-up truck is back with more sophistication for its styling cues that extend from the exterior into the cabin.

Externally, this pick-up truck now comes featuring a new signature grille, sleeker LED headlights, a redesigned front bumper, muscular arches and new alloy wheels, a refined tailgate, and LED rear light clusters.

Inside, the cabin boasts of a premium feel with plenty of functionality and durability through the inclusion of soft-touch materials, refined details and higher levels of insulation for lower levels of noise, vibration and harshness.


The seats have been redesigned with added support, and the cabin now prominently features a 9.0-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Also included is a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, USB Type-C ports, dual-zone climate controls, and rear air vents for added passenger comfort.

Power comes from Isuzu's 3.0-litre turbo-diesel mill, paired with a six-speed automatic, delivering power to the four-wheel-drive (4WD) system.

The 2,999cc engine provides 188hp at 3,600rpm and 450Nm from 1,600 to 2,600rpm.


Drive modes include Rough Terrain (new), hill descent control, and 4WD-lock, which is available in 4L, 4H, and 2H for rear-wheel-only propulsion.

The BT-50 has eight airbags and the rest of its safety kit practically mimics the equipment on the Mazda3 1.5.

On the Mazda3 1.5, there are antilock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, dynamic stability control, traction control, emergency stop signal, hill launch assist.


It also features auto-hold function, automatic door lock, and walk-away lock.

Further bolstering this is Mazda's i-Activsense suite of advanced driver aid systems.

This includes adaptive front lighting system, high beam control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning system, lane-keep assist system, driver attention alert, front and rear smart brake support with stop and go function, Mazda radar cruise control, and cruising with traffic support.
