Pos Malaysia launches nation’s 1st autonomous vehicle

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd has launched the country's first-ever autonomous vehicle (AV).

Central to the initiative is Autonomous Logistic Solutions (ALS), a local company enabling the deployment of Zelos — a fully driverless, 100% electric, zero-emission autonomous logistics vehicle purpose-built for B2B (business-to-business) goods transportation, particularly high-volume, repetitive, point-to-point delivery operations.

As the exclusive Malaysian partner, ALS is responsible for bringing, localising, and operationalising Zelos in Malaysia, unlocking access to the world’s largest and most commercially deployed autonomous logistics platform.

The launch event was attended by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and featured the signing of a collaborative agreement between Pos Malaysia, represented by its group CEO Charles Brewer and ALS, represented by managing director Alan Chong.

Pos Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar said, “Our autonomous vehicle initiative signifies a pivotal milestone in our journey to transform Pos Malaysia into a modern, innovative, and sustainable logistics provider."

"Zelos represents more than just technological advancement, it represents a concrete step towards a more sustainable and efficient operation. The technology has the potential to reduce fuel consumption, optimise delivery routes and minimise wastage in our daily operations," he added.

This initiative is powered by 5G connectivity by ALS’ strategic partner, Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB).

DNB CEO Datuk Azman Ismail said this collaboration is an important step in Malaysia’s journey to accelerate its digital transformation.

“DNB is proud to be part of this trial with Pos Malaysia and ALS. As Malaysia’s primary 5G connectivity provider, we are committed to supporting the nation’s development of an Autonomous Network as part of the country’s AI Nation plans. Ultra‑reliable, high‑performance 5G connectivity is essential to enabling advanced autonomous use cases — from IoT to autonomous robotics and vehicles,” said Azman.

ALS is bringing Zelos into Malaysia to fast-track the adoption of Level 4 autonomous logistics using a platform already proven at scale.

Zelos operates more than 15,000 autonomous vehicles across countries including China, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, supporting a wide range of real-world use cases.
