Proton e.MAS: Over 20K cars sold in 2026 to date

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton e.MAS has surpassed 20,000 vehicle sales in less than seven months of 2026, further strengthening its position as Malaysia's top xEV (any type of electrified vehicle) brand.

Pro-Net, a wholly owned subsidiary of Proton, said in the first half of 2026, Proton e.MAS commanded 42.6% of Malaysia's EV (electric vehicle) market and 41.8% of the xEV market.

The milestone was driven by strong demand across the Proton e.MAS portfolio.

The Proton e.MAS 7 remained the brand's best-selling model, accounting for 15.8% of total sales, while the e.MAS 5 contributed 60.9%.

Introduced more recently, the e.MAS 7 PHEV (plug-in hybrid) has quickly gained traction, making up 23.3% of total sales.

"Surpassing 20,000 vehicle sales in less than seven months would not have been possible without the confidence and unwavering support of Malaysians who have chosen Proton e.MAS," said Pro-Net CEO Zhang Qiang.

Meanwhile, Proton said it remains committed to supporting the government’s ambitions to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon mobility and reduce transport-related carbon emissions.

Through Proton e.MAS, the company continues to contribute towards the objectives outlined in the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) by making electrified vehicles more attainable while strengthening the ecosystem needed to support long-term EV adoption.
