Toyota Rush in Malaysia not affected by airbag issue in the Philippines
By CARSIFU | 19 July 2019SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor has issued a statement saying the Toyota Rush being sold in Malaysia are not affected by a recall issue in the Philippines, regarding defects on the electronic control units (ECU) of the airbags' system.
Recently, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced that it is recalling the Rush due the aforementioned defect and units affected were produced from April 2, 2018 to February 7, 2019.
The issue can cause the Rush’s curtain shield airbags to deploy “upon impact on the rear wheel,” when the car passes over potholes or badly maintained roads, due to an error in the programming of the airbag computer.
