MCO: UMW Toyota Motor to re-open selected service centres
By CARSIFU | 21 April 2020SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor has announced that it has received approval from the Ministry of International Trade and Investment (MITI) to re-open selected authorised service centres (SCs) in Malaysia.
The company's SCs were among the businesses that had to remain closed from the start of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on March 18 - except for businesses deemed as essential services. However, its emergency assistance services were permitted.
Following the extension of the Movement Control Order until April 28, MITI has given permission for car companies to resume aftersales services at selected outlets.
The Japanese brand in Malaysia said that it will operate at minimum capacity and by appointments only.
Customers are advised that they will have to confirm if their preferred SC is operating and to schedule an appointment before visiting any of its SC - keeping in mind that the MCO restrictions are still in effect.
The company also announced that social distancing of 1m or more will be practised at their SCs to help ensure the safety and protection of its customers
With regards to vehicles purchased from the company or its authorised dealers with existing warranties that are valid and expiring during the MCO period, there will be a 30-day extension calculated from the last day of the MCO.
“As we always place customer care as a top priority, all Toyota vehicles sent to our service centres will receive a thorough inspection to ensure they are in good running order. However, we also urge customers to adhere to the regulations of the MCO and help to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus,” said UMW Toyota Motor president Ravindran K.
The company said that it will continue to provide all customers with assistance for any emergencies or enquiries during the MCO period through its existing helplines.
