PARIS: Welcome to the Mondial De L’Automobile Paris 2016 or simply put, the Paris Motor Show. And what better way to glimpse the future of automobiles than with concept cars. To kick things off, we'll start with the French marque Renault and its vision of what the future may hold with the Trezor.

1. Renault Trezor

The concept uses warm, simple, sensual lines and Renault design cues to create a Grand Tourer with a high output all-electric powertrain with an electrifying 350hp and 380Nm of torque. 0 to 62mph in under four seconds but more interestingly the only car with a one-piece clamshell roof which opens like the lid of a jewellery box. Et voila!

6. Lexus UX Concept

The UX is Lexus' take on a radical compact crossover packaging that is robust yet agile and shows off an "inside-out styling concept". The design of the four-seater is fluid and flowy from exterior to interior. Wheel arches, roof bars, and door cameras all reinforce the “inside-out” styling theme. They are all finished in the same material, and represent a form of continuous yet interrupted bone structure.

The UX Concept brings together the appearance and 4x4 presence of an off-roader with a low ground clearance and a coupe-like driving position. It would be remiss not to mention Kinetic Seat Concept,

What's absolutely intriguing are the use of spider web-pattern net seats known as Kinetic Seats that are still conceptual as well. Such seats apparently improve driving comfort.

The seat frame “upholstery” comprises a spider web-pattern net with threads that spread out radially from the center of the back rest. The net, made of synthetic spider silk materials, is sufficiently flexible to closely fit body shape. Sitting in the seat helps stabilise head movement caused by vehicle motion, keeping the field of vision steady.

7. Mitsubishi GT-PHEV

The concept projects the image of a “ground tourer” – a car made for cruising across a vast land – expressing Functional Beauty, Augmented Possibility, Sculptured Dynamism, Japanese Craftsmanship. This PHEV system comprises a next-generation high-capacity drive battery package, three high-output and high-efficiency motors and an engine designed especially for the PHEV system featuring improved electricity generation performance and motive performance.
