BANGKOK: The 40th Bangkok International Motor Show 2019 (40th BIMS) will open its doors from 27 March to 7 April 2019 at Impact Challenger, Muang Thong Thani.

"This is the top motor show in Asean," said Dr Prachin Eamlumnow, CEO of motor show organiser Grand Prix International Public Company Limited and the chairman of the 40th BIMS.

The show will feature 33 automotive brands and 14 motorcycle brands. This year also marks the inaugural participation of supercar brand McLaren.

Japanese participating brands include Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Mazda, Subaru, and Suzuki.

Besides Kia and Hyundai, the motor show will see European and American automotive marques like Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Bentley, Chevrolet, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Maserati, McLaren, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, and Volvo.

Electric vehicle (EV) brands FOMM and MIND will also be participating.

The motorbike zone will see brand such as Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson, Triumph, Vespiario, and GPX.

To celebrate the 40th edition of the motor show, there will be nostalgic special setups that will bring everyone back four decades ago to when BIMS was held for the first time at Lumpini Park in 1979.

The exhibition will feature the history of BIMS along with the development, growth and how BIMS helped to boost the automotive industry in Thailand.

Jaturont Komolmis, chief operating officer of Grand Prix International and the Vice Chairman of the 40th BIMS said, “The 40th BIMS is held under the theme of “Enjoyment of Automobiles”, conveying the craftmanship of modern-day automobiles that blend well with cutting-edge technologies to bring out the best experience between man and machine. Despite the current trend where consumer behavior has shifted to online purchases, our study found that consumers still need to see, test, touch and feel the actual vehicle before buying."

This year, the 12-day motor show expects to welcome at least as many visitors (1,620,000 people in 2018) as last year.

The motor show will also feature a specially designed SUV (sport utility vehicle) test drive area, as well as various special promotions and campaigns.
