TORONTO: The World Car Finals Powered by Brembo has recently announced the top three candidates for its top prize. And it comes as little surprise that they are all electric cars.
The finalists for the 2022 World Car of the Year are Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
The vote results had been tabulated by KPMG.
In just a few short weeks, the winners in all six categories will be declared live at the 2022 New York International Auto Show on April 13.
A jury of 102 automotive journalists from 33 countries selected the finalists by secret ballot based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their work.
The other awards are World Electric Vehicle of the Year; World Urban Car; World Luxury Car; World Performance Car; and World Car Design of the Year
Both the Ioniq 5 and EV6 are also vying for the World Car Design of the Year, with the Ioniq 5 in the running for a third award: World Electric Vehicle of the Year.
