Chery Malaysia probes Omoda 5 suspension failure

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Auto Malaysia has issued a statement regarding the recent incident involving a rear suspension failure on Omoda 5 sports utility vehicle.

The company said it has reached out to the customer involved as well as those who have faced a similar experience. It also said it is in constant contact with all parties involved.

The owner's vehicle has been towed to the Balakong service centre where it would undergo a thorough inspection, said Chery.

On April 28, the owner of the Omoda 5 claimed her vehicle had suffered a serious rear suspension failure.

The incident was posted on social media with the owner demanding Chery explain how such a thing could happen.

Chery encouraged customers to make an appointment at the nearest service centre for a thorough inspection if they are in any doubt about the roadworthiness of their cars. A full report would be provided to customers after the inspection, it added.

The latest development came in the wake of a complaint from another Omoda owner earlier this month who reported that her car's brakes were faulty. However, Chery said her car was safe to use following tests it conducted as well as those by Puspakom.
