Proton Inspira tops Google search

PETALING JAYA: The year’s most popular search over Google among Malaysians was a national car model - the Proton Inspira.


According to the 2010 Year-End Zeitgeist report released by Google on Thursday, “not even Apple’s iPad and the Greatest Show on Earth - the Fifa World Cup 2010 come close” to the hype generated by the Proton Inspira, which was launched on Oct 14.


Google recorded a meteoric spike of queries on the Inspira in October, which was enough to knock off the iPad for the number one spot, although the latter was introduced to the world in January.


Another significant search query for the year was Facebook while Kedah Internet users came up tops this year for using the search engine to access their profiles.


The report also showed that Malaysians were using the search engine primarily as a gateway to their favourite websites.
