Any wheel size bigger than 23-inch is pointless, says Audi

LOS ANGELES: While General Motors is looking at introducing 24-inch or 26-inch in selected future models, Audi takes a different view.

The German car maker says 23-inch wheels are really the limit. That opinion is coming from its present designer head Marc Lichte.

Lichte was referencing the 592hp RS Q8, which features 22-inch alloy wheels as standard but could be had in 23-inchers as an option. The SUV is also notable for having the biggest tyres ever installed on an Audi at 295/40.

US-based Motor Authority quoted Lichte as saying that any size beyond 23 inches would "make no sense". Besides, future Audi SUVs are not going to get any bigger, so having bigger wheels is just plain silly, said Lichte.

Well, try telling that to General Motors.
