NASSAU: If you are going to break up with your girlfriend, take back your car keys from her first. Guy Gentile didn't and found his expensive car underwater.
The banker dumped his girlfriend, so his girlfriend dumped his US$55,000 (RM233,000) Mercedes-Benz S400 hybrid in his swimming pool.
Gentile, 41, said it took over four hours for a tow truck to fish his luxury car out of the pool. He has since lodged a police report against his ex, who is 24-year-old Russian model Kristina Kuchma.
In an interview with Bahamian news site Tribune242.com, Gentile admitted he was partly to blame for the incident.
“I must accept some responsibility, if a woman is not crazy, she doesn’t love you,” he said. “And I must have driven her crazy for her to have driven my car into the pool,” said Gentile, who runs a securities firm here. Gentile, an American, isn't new to the media spotlight, having being linked to an alleged securities fraud that took place between 2007 and 2009.
The New York Post reported that Gentile decided to end his relationship with Kuchma after she asked him for US$50,000 (RM212,000) to start a marketing business.
