BMW and Gentari to work on green mobility and RE

KUALA LUMPUR: Clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BMW Group Malaysia to explore the implementation of green mobility services and solutions, as well as renewable energy (RE) deployment.

Gentari and BMW are currently actively working together to explore potential collaborations in areas such as installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at various facilities, including among others, the BMW network of dealerships; various EV fleet solutions in the Malaysia market; value-added services for BMW EV owners including EV charging subscription plans, electric forecourts, portable charging and mobile charging services; and deployment of joint renewable energy infrastructure.

The signing ceremony held at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur was attended by deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, Shah Yang Razalli and Hans de Visser, managing director of BMW Group Malaysia.

Since its introduction in June 2022, Gentari has rapidly expanded its green mobility network.

To date, Gentari through its affiliated entities, has deployed over 160 charging points in Malaysia and over 170 charging points in India.

With a mission to be Asia Pacific’s most valued clean energy solutions partner by 2030, Gentari aims to capture over 10% market share of charge points and Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) offering, across key markets in Asia Pacific.

In the same vein of developing the EV ecosystem here, BMW Group Malaysia has also made over 1,000 charging facilities available in its network thus far.

Access to over 400 of these facilities provided are through partnerships with ChargEV and Yinson Greentech, while the partnership with JomCharge enables access to over 100 charging facilities, Gentari with over 150 facilities as well as approximately 160 facilities from new partners such as Shell Recharge with ParkEasy, ChargeN’Go, ChargeSini, Go To-U and FlexiParking.

Over 100 BMW i and MINI charging facilities are also available at most authorised dealerships, as well as partnering venues across the country, with more to come as part of the strategic infrastructure expansion plan set for the year ahead.
