MUNICH: BMW is tweaking its logo and turned it black-and-white for the 7 Series, 8 Series, i8 and X7.

To give these elite models a sense of exclusiveness, the logo will have the company name “Bayerische Motoren Werke” written out in full. The black-and-white version of the roundel was first used 100 years ago.

The new presence for the brand’s luxury-segment models were unveiled for the first time at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

BMW brand senior vice-president Hildegard Wortmann said these select group of cars are targeted at people "well accustomed to trying new things, taking the lead and choosing a free and independent path in life."

“For these people, life is all about making the best possible use of the time available to them," she said, adding that the company is building a luxury ecosystem of unique services and experiences.
