BMW Shorties returns for ninth year

KUALA LUMPUR: The BMW Shorties, Malaysia’s longest running and most prestigious short film competition, enters its ninth year.

This time, the theme centres around "Change".

“Change is a constant and the challenge for society is to be able to discern, adapt and evolve to the best of one’s ability. BMW employs this belief; it is a key driver which have accelerated us into becoming the number one premium automotive brand in the world,” said BMW Group Malaysia managing director and CEO Alan Harris.

This year's competition judges include five-time BMW Shorties veteran and commercial film maker Lina Tan, prominent film producers Nandita Solomon and Ismail Kamarul, film director Rajay Singh and film editor Affandi Jamaludin.

The competition offers a prize of a RM75,000 production grant for budding film enthusiasts.

Nominees of the Best Screenplay award will also be awarded a Script Development Grant from Red Films, the production company led by Tan.

The grant includes a RM1,000 cash prize and script consultancy support from industry experts.

Budding filmmakers have until November 2, 2015 to submit their short film entries.
