Continental launches Hari Raya safety campaign

PETALING JAYA: To ensure a safe trip during the Hari Raya festive season, Continental Tyre PJ Sdn Bhd and Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd have jointly organised a nationwide tyre safety check campaign from June 5 until July 5 at selected Shell petrol stations.

This campaign is in line with the efforts of the Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (Road Safety Department) to promote road safety awareness and education.
Participants who bring in their cars for the safety check will have the air pressure of the tyres checked and the level of the tread depth to ensure the tyres are roadworthy.

They will also receive a booklet from Continental on tyre maintenance tips, Continental premiums and a RM50 voucher for Continental tyre purchase.

“We believe that by conducting the Hari Raya Tyre Safety Check Campaign, it will assist the government in promoting awareness of road safety and will reduce road accidents during the festive season,” said vice president, marketing and sales PLT & TT Malaysia, Continental Tyre PJ Malaysia, Cameron Wilson at the launch event.

“Correct tyre inflation and suffcient tread depth are essential in ensuring safety. By ignoring these, emergency stopping distances will be longer resulting in collisions at higher impact speeds. As such, correct tyre inflation and tread depth as well as choosing quality tyres can be the difference between life and death,” said Wilson.

Also present at the event was director, policy and innovation division, Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (Road Safety Department), Tuan Haji Jasmi Yusoff and Continental Tyres PJ Malaysia Sdn Bhd CEO Benoit Henry.

The awareness campaign will be held at 21 Shell petrol stations nationwide every Friday to Sunday until July 5, from 12pm to 6pm.
