David Brown Automotive teases new grand tourer for Geneva

LONDON: David Brown Automotive is a renowned British coachbuilder, and the company has just announced that it will be revealing its most performance-focused model ever at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The new model is being billed as a new grand tourer following in the footsteps of the Aston Martin DB5-inspired Speedback GT, but there's no news yet of just what historic model the new GT car is going to take its inspiration from this time.

However, it's likely that it will be another classic car of yesteryear brought into the 21st century through the expertise of the coachbuilder.

All we have from the company so far is a teaser image showing a glimpse of the badge, but David Brown Automotive is promising a more "aggressive design language."

As is always the way, the new car will be hand built at the company's Silverstone headquarters, where it's said the new car will, "absorb the location's famous racing and aeronautical heritage into the car's high-octane pedigree."

Company founder and CEO, David Brown, says of the new project, "This is something that we've been looking forward to doing since launching Speedback GT and I can't wait to reveal more. With its unprecedented levels of performance, this vehicle allows the David Brown Automotive brand to appeal to our existing customers, and new customers alike. The car brings yet another exciting opportunity for our company."

Building a high-performance car is a departure from the company's most recent model, the Mini Remastered, which despite its eye-watering £99,000 (RM542,000) price ticket for some versions still only had a 94bhp version of the car's classic four-cylinder, 1.2-litre powerplant under the bonnet.

The full reveal of the new model will take place at the David Brown Automotive press conference at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 6. More details about the project are likely to be released before then, hopefully including what model the car is going to be based upon.
