SHENZHEN: A leading dashcam manufacturer from China has unveiled its latest recording device that it says can deliver clearer and sharper videos even in low-light conditions.

The complete Z40 dashcam set from DDPAI comprises a front and rear camera and a 2-inch IPS screen.

It is equipped with Sony IMX335 CMOS sensor, six optical lenses and an F1.8 aperture, recording at 2592×1944 pixel resolution and promising clearer and sharper videos even in dim light.

DDPAI said its proprietary Realcube Image Technology enables the dashcam to capture every frame with better pixel arrangement and higher brightness, colour accuracy and better picture quality.

Wide-angle front (140°) and rear (125°) cameras deliver wide vision and all-round protection. The 360-degree rotating rear camera even allows for selfies to be taken.

The Z40 can take up to 128GB SD card. It supports seamless loop recording that overwrites old footage with new content when SD card is full, ensuring uninterrupted recording.

A built-in G sensor detects sudden collisions and immediately saves 10s footage. The supercapacitor-based dashcam supports last 3s to 4s recording even when the device is turned off.

DDPAI said its D²save storage technology leverages on the built-in NAND Flash to allow videos to be backed up should the flash card become corrupted.

The Z40 can be set up for 24-hour monitoring of the car through a hardwire kit. Low-voltage protection prevents the car battery draining when the dashcam is charged. It can notify the owner of the parked car in case another car collides with it.

A GPS-enabled Z40 is also available that tracks driving route and location, speed and time. Combined GPS with SR (sense reality) effect invented by DDPAI, the Z40 turns turns the driving experience into a shareable event on social medias or the DDPAI driver community.

The DDPAI press statement did not reveal the Z40 price.

DDPAI Malaysia said the Z40 is expected to arrive in Malaysia in August, with prices yet to be fixed.

DDPAI dashcams sold in Malaysia straddle the price range of RM130 to around RM2,000 with the majority at below RM1,000.

Established in 2013, DDPAI has grown to become one of the top three dashcam brands in China. It boasts of being the first one to create a community for sharing dashcam footages.
