KUALA LUMPUR: After having been barred over public safety concerns back in February 2017, motorcycle hailing company Dego Ride has gone live on New Year's Day with over 700 approved riders.

Its founder and chief executive officer, Nabil Feisal Bamadhaj, said today that the bike e-hailing operation currently covered areas from Putrajaya to Shah Alam.

However, the company expects to widen coverage as it is in the process of vetting over 4,000 rider applications.

"Under Dego Ride, male and female riders will cater to passengers of their own gender.

"We call on more women riders to join us, as there has been high demand from female passengers for their last mile connections," he said during the launch ceremony of the Dego Ride app and its headquarters in Taman Melawati.

Dego Ride offers the first 3km ride at RM3, with RM1 charged for every subsequent kilometer after that.

Passengers can download the app online and start using the motorcycle e-hailing service immediately.

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who came for the ceremony, lauded Dego Ride's effort in providing job opportunities to youths and heling to improve the lives of the B40 group.
