KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been arrested for allegedly driving against traffic and crashing his SUV into another vehicle in Jalan Klang Lama on Friday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya said the 35-year-old suspect was arrested when he turned up at the Jalan Bandar police station on Saturday afternoon.

"After receiving a report on the incident which went viral on social media, police summoned both drivers to the police station to lodge a report. Both showed up at the Jalan Bandar police station," he said when contacted.

He said the driver of the Volvo SUV tested positive for drugs, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving and also under the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug abuse.

He said an application would be made tomorrow to remand the driver for further investigation.

"This case will be referred to the public prosecutor as soon as possible," he said.
