PETALING JAYA: Over 1,400 bookings in four weeks. For a non-national car, that's quite an achievement.

Honda Malaysia announced today the refreshed BR-V did just that following its launch.

Since the BR-V was introduced to Malaysia in 2017, it has quickly become one of the most popular 7-seaters in the market with more than 32,600 units sold.

Honda Malaysia said 42% of BR-V bookings came from the Central region of the peninsula.

Of the two variants available, over 85% units of booking were for the higher V variant, while the E variant made up the balance.

More than 24% of the bookings were for Modern Steel Metallic, which makes it the favourite colour among the BR-V owners. Prices start from RM87,000 (see table below, valid until Dec 31).

The exterior of the latest BR-V has received several upgrades comprising a new front grille, new front bumper with lower bumper garnish, new front fog light garnish as well as a new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheel design.

It is powered by a 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC engine that makes 118hp. The engine is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

The BR-V boasts the biggest boot space in its segment at 223 litres when all seats are up and 539 litres when the third-row seats are folded down.

In conjunction with the introduction of the refreshed BR-V, Honda Malaysia had also launched two community relief campaigns – “Be Kind with BR-V” and “Honda Dealer Donation Drive” – to aid Covid-19 relief programmes as well as to help affected communities in the surrounding areas of Honda dealers.

Malaysians are welcome to donate the basic necessities at the nearest Honda dealerships as the campaign is ongoing until Aug 31.

Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Toichi Ishiyama said the company is donating part of the proceeds from every BR-V sold to the Covid-19 relief programmes.

He also said all Honda dealerships are safe to visit as they have implemented all the necessary safeguards.
