FRANKFURT (Germany): British audio pioneers, Bowers & Wilkins (B&W), debuted its 16-speaker diamond surround sound system while Harman International Industries featured its latest JBL sound system.

B&W’s diamond dome tweeters are a first of its kind and are part of the company’s 800 series diamond range of loudspeakers, which has a singular goal - to produce an audio experience that feels as though you are there with the artist in the studio.

The company has fitted such a system into the latest BMW 7-Series and says that the hardest material on earth is ideal for offering the perfect combination of lightness and rigidity to deliver crystal clear, lifelike treble for a truly revelatory audio experience.

It has a thin, yet rigid stainless steel speaker grilles feature acoustically optimised Fibonacci-patterned holes that allow more sound to pass through and is able to blend into the 7-Series’ luxurious interior.

The tweeters also feature Nautilus spiral diffusers to ensure unwanted sound gets cancelled out and is exclusively available as a premium option with the German carmaker’s flagship model.

The 16-speaker sound system includes three 25mm Diamond Dome Nautilus tweeters (front, left, centre and right), four 25mm Aluminium tweeters, seven 100mm Kevlar midrange drivers and two 217mm Rohacell central bass subwoofers.

A 10-channel 1,400W Class-D amplifier powers up all 16-speakers and also features QuantumLogic surround (QLS) sound processing as well as five different amplifier sound presets of studio, concert, on stage, cinema and lounge.
