Former civil servant wins Proton Search Contest 2016

SUBANG JAYA: The search for the longest-owned Proton Saga came to a close as former civil servant Mohd Isa Ibrahim Shah was announced as the grand prize winner of the Proton Search Contest 2016 which earned him an all-new Proton Saga.

85-year-old Isa, who formerly worked for RISDA, won the hearts of the judges as he recounted the story of how his 1985 1.3litre Proton Saga was and is still being used today for his charitable works with indigenous peoples.

Besides winning a new Saga, Isa’s original and beloved Saga will be refurbished by Proton.

10 other Saga owners received the consolation prize of RM1,000 as well as refurbishment of their cars worth RM5,000.

The consolation prize winners are Abdul Razak Ahmad, Azizah Junid, Ishrat Banu Hassan, Mohd Jamil Chew Abdullah, Mustapa Kassim, Wong Sok Kim @ Wong Sok Kum (owners of car made in 1985), Govindarajoo s/o Periasamy, Mohd Tajuddin Idris, Samian Sawiyo and Thangaras s/o Doraisamy (owners of car made in 1986).

The nationwide Proton Search Contest 2016 was held in conjunction with the launch of the new Proton and was held from Mar 8, 2016 to June 8, 2016. It received a total of 886 entries.

The contest was organised in search of the longest owned Proton car which is still running today and in relatively good condition. The contestants were also requied to share warm memories of the car either through written stories or a short video.
