NEW YORK: Jaguar has announced the addition of a new F-Type Checkered Flag Limited Edition model for its US market to celebrate the brand’s sports car heritage that dates back to the reveal of the XK 120 in 1948.

Based on the Jaguar F-TYPE R-Dynamic Coupe and Convertible with a four- or six-cylinder engine, the limited edition model features subtle visual enhancements to the exterior and to the driver-focused “1+1” cabin.

Highlights include a Black Contrast roof on the Coupe and a Windsor Leather interior featuring Performance seats with embossed headrests, a Dark Brushed Aluminum centre console trim finisher and – in recognition of the Jaguar brand’s motorsport successes – a steering wheel with a discrete Checkered Flag logo and red leather band to mark the 12 o’clock position.

The exterior of the F-TYPE is enhanced by the Exterior Black Design Pack, equipped as standard on the limited edition, which benefits from extended side sills to subtly increase visual width.

This gives the car an even greater presence and poise along with the exclusive 20-inch Gloss Black wheels that have been complemented by the red finish of the brake calipers.

The model’s Ebony Windsor Leather interior is offered with contrast stitching in a choice of Red or Cirrus and the slimline Performance seats, with optional heated and cooling functionality while featuring headrests embossed with the Checkered Flag branding.

In place of the Delta aluminum centre console trim, typically equipped on F-TYPE R-Dynamic models, the limited edition features a Dark Brushed Aluminum finisher to complement the leather upholstery.

The standard Jaguar InControl Touch Pro infotainment system features a Meridian audio system, a suite of connected services including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto within the 10-inch touchscreen.

Power comes from either a 296hp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine or a 380hp 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol engine that have been paired to an eight-speed Quickshift transmission.

Both are said to offer an outstanding balance of responsiveness and power as well as a visceral soundtrack to reflect the driver-focused character of the Jaguar F-Type.
