Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy gets global unveil in Germany

BERLIN: Today, the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY racecar made its global debut in Berlin with founder and CEO of Formula E Alejandro Agag having the honour of marking the occasion alongside Jaguar Racing as he put it through its paces for five laps around the iconic Tempelhof Circuit.

The new racecar will be the official support series for the ABB FIA Formula E Championship for the 2018-19 season.

Up to 20 of the racecars will line up on the grid on the streets of city centres such as Hong Kong, Rome, Paris and New York.

The racecar offers an ‘Arrive and Drive’ package for the drivers on the grid and all of the vehicles will be designed, engineered and built by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO).

The package includes professional technical support from racecar preparation to data engineering, global logistics for vehicles, spare parts and equipment.

The 1,965kg racecar uses an all-aluminium structure for its body and measures in at 3,480mm-long, 2,145mm-wide and 1,525mm-tall.

It comes equipped with a 90kWh lithium-ion battery that feeds two electric motors to produce acombined output of 400PS and 696Nm - enabling it to sprint from 0-100kph in 4.8 seconds, have a top speed of 195kph and a range of up to 480km.

The English luxury car maker says that with a 50kW DC rapid charger – commonly found at most public charging stations, the I‑Pace can achieve up to 270km of range after being charged for an hour.
