ALOR STAR: The Kedah police have received a fleet of 30 new Toyota Hilux GS-Cargo Single Cab 2.4 worth over RM4 million to replace the ageing vehicles they have been using.

Bukit Aman Logistic and Technology Department director Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the vehicles are for the use of the state police.

"Overall, we receive 400 units of Toyota Hilux nationwide. Kedah has received 30 vehicles, where 28 of them are for the Kedah Contingent, and one each for the Langkawi Police Training Centre as well as the Langkawi Region One Marine Police Force Operation Base.

"The vehicles will be used in assignments such as roadblocks, transporting bodies and goods. They are also equipped with additional accessories, including digital recorder and first aid kits," he said after handing over the vehicles at the Kedah contingent police headquarters, here, on Sunday.

Of the 27,307 vehicles that are in the police fleet nationwide, 18,279 are due for replacement and would be phased out in stages, said Mazlan.
