PETALING JAYA: Honda Malaysia has replaced over 62,200 Takata front airbag inflators since August but many affected car owners are still delaying sending their cars in for the safety fix.

Honda said the central region of the peninsula still has the highest number of car owners who have yet to replace the Takata front airbag inflators with 23% compared to the northern and southern regions which is 9% and 8% respectively.

As announced in August, the car maker has secured 100% of Takata driver front airbag and it is urging affected customers, in particular those in the central region, to make an appointment to have their faulty airbag inflators replaced.

Honda Malaysia also said parts for Takata passenger front airbag inflators are gradually arriving and are expected to be at 55% by end of this December. Customers are encouraged to check the stock availability status at www.honda.com.my or www.productrecall.honda.com.my. Notification letters would also be sent to inform customers on stock availability.

Other than dealerships where airbags can be checked and replaced if necessary, Honda has also set up temporary service hubs and mobile hubs to make it convenient for parts replacement.
