ÄNGELHOLM (Sweden): Koenigsegg has kicked off the New Year with a teaser of a new hypercar, slated for reveal later this year.

Koenigsegg posted on its Instgram page the following: "Dear 2022, here's our New Year's resolution - More ultimate performance through clever engineering and optimal design. Here we go!"

The car in profile is cast in shadow, showing it to have a teardrop glasshouse and angled taillights that reminds one of those in the 2006 CCX's, the first Koenigsegg to have used an in-house developed engine.

The front splitter looks similar to the one in the 2004 CCR, while the rear diffuser harks back to the Agera.

It could be that the new hypercar is a homage to the 646hp CC8S, the brand's first production car built in 2002 and 2003. This year would be the 20th anniversary of the CC8S.

The new hypercar is likely to use a variant of the V8 mill found in the Jesko hypercar and Regera grand tourer.
