Lamborghini blends coupe and race car in new Huracán Tecnica

ROME: With the engine of a race car packaged as a rear-wheel drive coupé, Lamborghini's new Huracán Tecnica is aiming to offer the best of two worlds.

Built for race tracks and country roads, the V10 Huracán variant is set to launch later this year at a not yet named price. Given that it's positioned above the rear-wheel drive coupé in the model range, it's likely to cost well over 200,000 euros.

While it sports plenty of coupe flair, driving performance is so sporty that it is difficult to picture this Lambo feeling comfortable on city streets.

The Huracán Tecnica accelerates from standstill to 100kph in 3.2 seconds and reaches up to 325kph at full throttle.

The Italians have not yet determined the fuel consumption, but it's unlikely to be low in emissions.

According to the manufacturer, the Huracán Tecnica is based on two model variants and combines the rear-wheel drive version of the Huracán Coupé with a 5.2-litre 10-pot engine from the STO racing model.

This allows it to have 640hp instead of the usual 610hp.

Lamborghini says it has also revised the aerodynamics, reduced drag and increased downforce. This should make the Tecnica the ideal compromise between a racing car and a road sports car, Lamborghini claims.
