LOS ANGELES: Leonardo DiCaprio has a new role - as brand ambassador in China for BYD's line of new energy vehicles.
The Hollywood star and environmental activist will work with the brand over the course of 2017 to highlight new developments and announcements in China regarding the company's new line.
"All over the world people are realising that cars that run on fossil fuels are inefficient and a major threat to the planet," said the star in a statement.
"I am very pleased to be joining an effort to increase the number of clean vehicles on the road in China and beyond."
The company is one of the largest new energy vehicle manufacturers in the world, and is known for its "Cool the Earth by 1°C" campaign, which aims for the creation of a "Zero Emissions Energy Ecosystem."
