Malaysia is top Asean market for BMW hybrids

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Group Malaysia announced today that Malaysia is the leading market in Asean and the fifth largest market in the world for BMW hybrids. Malaysia is also the second largest market in the world for the X5 xDrive 40e plug-in hybrid.

To underline the point, BMW Group Malaysia said it has already assembled and delivered over 4,500 units of the 330e, the X5 xDrive40e and the 740Le xDrive in the country. BMW refers to its plug-in hybrids as iPerformance models.

To mark the achievement, the company is giving away BMW i Wallbox Plus and BMW i AC fast charging cable for customers buying its hybrids. The promotion is limited to the first 1,000 customers until Dec 31.

BMW dealerships are helping to spread the green message by installing such chargers at public venues. BMW Group Malaysia is also working with GreenTech Malaysia to tap its ChargEV charging stations that are found in shopping centres and other commercial sites.

Recently, BMW dealer Seong Hoe Premium Motors had fitted a wallbox at Holiday Inn Melaka and The Equatorial Melaka while Regas Premium Auto Sarawak introduced two wallboxes at CityONE Megamall in Kuching, the first public charging station in the state.

To push more hybrid sales, BMW Group Malaysia is also throwing in a free comprehensive insurance called Ultimate Protection Programme+ (UPP+), courtesy of BMW Credit Malaysia and underwritten by Allianz General Insurance Company (M) Bhd .

The new policy offers 360-degree protection which includes accidental death or total permanent disability of up to RM100,000 per person including passengers, Key Care of up to RM1,000, vehicle break-in of up to RM3,000, special relief of up to RM 10,000, compassionate flood cover of up to RM30,000, rim protection for up to RM3,000, GAP insurance of up to RM10,000, hire purchase loan repayment of maximum six months of up to RM2,500 per instalment and for the first-time protection against scratch and dents for up to RM3,000.
