KUALA LUMPUR: Motor oil brand MaxxOil has launched its Nano Plus formulation promising better protection of petrol engines.

The Nano Plus technology is said to use mechanical means instead of chemicals, which can deteriorate over time.

It contains billions of nanometre-sized diamonds that act like ball bearings, which fill the pores of the metal, thus helping to sustain an oil film on the inner surfaces of the engine and sealing out corrosion-causing debris and moisture.

The nano diamond ball bearings also cuts friction within the engine, which reduces generated heat and wear. With lower heat, the life of the motor oil can be extended along with less engine drag to help improve fuel economy.

Made in the United States, among MaxxOil Nano Plus products for petrol engines are Pro-Max with 5W-40 viscosity (4.73-litre pack priced at RM228) and Pro Racing with 10W-60 viscosity (0.946-litre pack priced at RM98) - both being fully-synthetic motor oils.

Besides reduced friction and extended engine life, benefits of the Nano Plus motor oils can include increased performance, cooler running engine, and reduced noise.

There are also MaxxOil Nano Plus semi-synthetic motor oils with 5W-30 and 10W-40 viscosity, priced at RM128 for a 4.73-litre pack.
