STUTTGART: Mercedes-AMG has revealed that all future models will soon have a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version.
Mercedes’ head of external affairs for emissions Frank Overmeyer told Autocar that the company decided to go plug-in rather than the mild hybrid route as the latter option offered marginal emissions savings by comparison.
AMG refers to its plug-in hybrid technology as EQ Power+.
Overmeyer said the electric range in an AMG PHEV would be lower than that in a Mercedes-Benz as the emphasis was on performance. He said the AMG version could have a 69km range as opposed to 100km in a Mercedes PHEV.
