MINI USA drops Super Bowl campaign video

NEW YORK: BMW's iconic small car marque MINI is readying a push for the big time with an all-star ad challenging viewers to defy labels previously associated with the compact runabout.

Sports stars Serena Williams, Abby Wambach, Randy Johnson and Tony Hawk are joined by Hollywood film actor Harvey Keitel, musician T-Pain, budding race car driver Michai Stephens, and gentle giant Michael Whinnet in the 30-second commercial.

Each describes the car in terms that may or may not be familiar.

Another eight clips are made available on MINI USA's YouTube channel, in which each participant talks about the labels that have been applied to them, rightly or wrongly, and the aspects of themselves they see in the MINI Clubman.

"This idea is about fighting stereotypes about the car, but also stereotypes and labels in general," said the ad's Creative Director, Mark Krajan, in a behind-the-scenes video.
