Mitsubishi Motors North America announces new head

TOKYO: Mitsubishi Motors North American (MMNA) has announced a new head for the company with Yoichi Yokozawa as its new president and chief executive officer.

Replacing Fred Diaz, Yokozawa will assume his role in the US once travel restrictions are lifted. During which, Mark Chaffin has assumed the role until that happens.

Since joining Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) in August 1998, 55-year-old Yokozawa has held senior-level positions throughout the company's including financial, strategic planning, Nissan-MMC Alliance, and global marketing and sales organizations.

Yokozawa was previously president and CEO of MMNA from April 2011 until February 2014.

"Yoichi is an experienced team player, and his global background and previous North American experience will serve him well as he leads the MMNA organization forward," said MMC senior vice president of global marketing and sales Guillaume Cartier.

Cartier added that they are grateful to Diaz for his accomplishments and commitment to the MMC after having steered the company to sales successes in a challenging US market, built a strong leadership team, strengthened its dealer-partner network and built a strong foundation for success in the United States.
