According to a Kia press release issued on Friday, the model feature a bolder and more sophisticated design.
The slim radiator grille design, HID headlamps and LED projection fog lamp emphasise its sporty image. The profile of the Cerato Koup Turbo-GDI is enhanced by frameless doors, black high-gloss door mirrors and door handles, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Its rear comes with an LED high mounted stop lamp, dual muffler tail trim, carbon fibre look bumper garnish and LED rear combination lamps.
The interior carries on the sporty theme ith a driver-focused cockpit and generous use of soft-touch materials for added refinement. The supervision cluster benefits from a TFT colour LCD screen. Driver comfort is boosted by electric lumbar support and air ventilation.
The car also boasts motor-driven power steering (MDPS) with flex steer, a 4.2-inch touchscreen audio with rear view camera, push start ignition, and an audio system with 6-speakers. Motor driven power steering (MDPS) with flex steer provides three operating modes to help fine-tune the driving experience: Comfort mode for city driving, Normal mode for regular steering conditions and Sport mode for highway or heavy steering.
Other premium features available include a sunroof, a welcome light and dual zone auto air conditioner with cluster ioniser and auto defog system.
Under the bonnet is a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine which produces 201hp and 265Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The turbo engine allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 7.4 seconds.
Safety gear is competitive, with the car having Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist System (BAS), Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Seatbelt Reminder, ISOFIX as well as six airbags.
“As the first petrol turbo model by Kia to hit the Malaysian market, the new Cerato Koup Turbo-GDI is set to be an icon for the brand. It is the fastest car in its class and at RM135,888, is currently the most affordable 200hp car in the segment,” said Naza Automotive Group group chief operating officer Datuk Samson Anand George.
The car comes in a choice of three body colours: Racing Red, Aurora Black Pearl and Clear White.
