KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new seven-seater Ford S-MAX is launched today in Malaysia, priced at RM234,988.
Packed with smart technologies, the MPV is touted as designed for family convenience, and is the most powerful MPV in its class, thanks to a new fuel-efficient 2.0L EcoBoost engine that delivers 237hp.
Ford said the MPV is the first locally to offer a smart seating system that creates extra room at the touch of a button. In addition, it is the only MPV in its class to offer heated and cooled, 8-way powered massage.
The Easy-Fold second and third row seats provides 32 seating and load-space combinations. The system allows each rear seat to be folded flat from a push-button control panel, while the second-row and third-row seats can be folded flat at the touch of a button making instant room for sports gear or bulky DIY purchases.
With Ford Multi-Contour Seats, which include an Active Motion massage function, the S-MAX can reduce fatigue, aches and pains for the driver and front passenger by keeping muscles and blood vessels stimulated with the unique wave motion delivered by inflatable cushions within the seats.
The system monitors pressure in the individual cushions to feel like a single roller subtly stretching the back, and two intensity settings can be selected from the central touchscreen.
Safety kit package includes seven airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking and ISOFIX child safety mounts. The S-MAX was also recently awarded the maximum 5-star safety rating by the Euro NCAP independent crash test authority.
The S-MAX uses camera, radar, and ultrasonic devices to help improve driving safety. Other safety aids are adaptive LED headlamp and glare-free highbeam technology (adjusts the headlight beam angle and intensity); Lane Keeping Alert and Aid (alerts driver of unintended lane changes and actively steers the car back into place); Driver Alert (reminds drowsy driver to take a break); and Curve Control and Roll Stability Control systems (enhance vehicle stability by adjusting engine torque and braking to help drivers maintain control)
The S-MAX is available in a choice of white, silver or grey body colours.
