The pricing is inclusive of a four-year service package and regional warranty, 24 hour roadside support and a "flying doctor" aftersales team.

The centrepiece of the Phantom is "The Gallery" – dashboard and instrument panel area that is glassed up, allowing an art-collecting owner to view artwork if he chooses to.

In its eigth generation, the Phantom is made with a new spaceframe, exclusive to Rolls-Royce, and which will underpin all future Rolls-Royce models. Rolls-Royce claims the chassis is lighter yet 30% more rigid than its predecessor.

The car is fitted with air suspension, advanced chassis control systems, 130kg of sound insulation, and double-laminated glass and dual-skin alloys across the bulkhead to ensure minimal NVH (noise, vibration and harshness).

It is powered by a new 6.75 litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine that produces 563hp and 900Nm of torque from 1,700rpm, enabling the car to go from 0-100kph in 5.4 seconds with the help of its 8-speed, satellite-aided transmission.

A "Flagbearer" stereo camera system integrated in the windscreen sees the road ahead and adjusts the suspension proactively. Laser headlights provide a 600-metre range of light at night to ensure safe travel.

All four doors can now also be electrically closed from the exterior via touch sensitive door handles. A choice of rear seating options is available on the Phantom, from lounge to individual formats.
