New TVR to make its global debut at the London Motor Show

LONDON: The first TVR sportscar in over a decade is set to be unveiled at the first London auto show.

On May 5, fans of the iconic and eccentric British sports car brand will get their first glimpse of an all-new two-seat V8 coupé which is heading into limited production in 2017.

TVR closed its doors, seemingly for good, in 2006, devastating a loyal group of car fanatics in the process. However, the brand has now been resurrected and will announce its return to the premium sportscar market with a vehicle designed by none other than Gordon Murray, the man behind the legendary McLaren F1 hypercar.

"We have built enormous momentum over the past 12 months, to the point at which we now hold more than 350 deposits from enthusiastic individuals who are keen to be proud owners and drivers of the new TVR," said TVR chairman Les Edgar. "Our appearance at the London Motor Show will be a perfect platform for us to show a physical representation of the car and we hope to use the opportunity to tantalise the public and provide a strong indication of the look of the production vehicle."

There hasn't been a traditional international auto show hosted in Britain for over a decade, but the inaugural London Motor Show aims to address this shortcoming. Though an entirely new and independent event, a host of high-profile car companies, from Aston Martin to McLaren and Land Rover, will be in attendance when doors open to the press in Battersea on May 5.
