Nissan announces price hike in 2016

KUALA LUMPUR: Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) today announced that a price increase on Nissan models in Malaysia is possible if the Ringgit continues to depreciate against major currencies.

According to the company, the depreciation of the Ringgit has impacted its business and with such a challenging business environment, it has implemented numerous cost rationalisation and efficiency optimisation exercises in order to mitigate this.

However, even with such exercises, it would seem inevitable that some costs may have to be passed on to consumers and as a result, ETCM may need to consider raising the prices for its Nissan models in 2016.

"Despite all adversities, ETCM remains committed in providing our customers with quality, value-added products and the highest level of customer services," said ETCM executive director Datuk Dr Ang Bon Beng.

"The company will continue to seek and review opportunities for more strategic operational effectiveness and efficiencies within the business and with our partners in order to ensure that the current prices of Nissan vehicles remain unchanged this year.”
