Nissan looks to crowd-sourced playlist on Spotify as LEAF turns 5

NASHVILLE: Nissan has launched a Spotify playlist specially curated by LEAF fans around the world in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the delivery of the world's first all-electric LEAF.

"Nissan LEAF owners are among our most enthusiastic customers, and we wanted to get them involved in a unique way as we celebrate LEAF's anniversary, so we asked followers on Facebook and Twitter which songs they would choose to honor the all-electric vehicle's five years on the road," said Nissan director for electric vehicle sales & marketing Andrew Speaker.

"With suggestions ranging from No. 1 hits to obscure B-side tracks, LEAF fans helped us cultivate the perfect soundtrack for this occasion."

Users can search for the "100% Nissan LEAF 5th Birthday" playlist on Spotify and enjoy 10 fan-suggested songs that can be streamed via the Bluetooth connection in the LEAF or other Nissan models.

The first LEAF was delivered on Dec 11, 2010, to Olivier Chalouhi of San Francisco, and since then Nissan has become the world's leader in electric vehicle sales with nearly 200,000 LEAF vehicles sold globally and more than 88,000 sold in the United States.

Nissan recently introduced the new 2016 LEAF, which has available best-in-class range of 172km, making it the first affordable EV to get more than 160km on a single charge.

All LEAF models feature an 80kW AC synchronous motor that generates 107hp and 254Nm of torque, providing a highly responsive experience that consumers often expect from traditional, petrol-powered vehicles.
